DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER
On a Saturday night we stayed in and had date night at home. A classic winter Saturday night in, there was football on so we made a night of it. Heath made martinis and I made these burgers.
You would easily make these into 4 burgers and invite some friends over to enjoy them (but always ask them to bring something, you could outsource the buns for example) as upon reflection 2 X 125g patties in a burger is a lot. These burgers are just so simple and in taste, theres nothing fancy just all the good bits you want in a double cheesy.
Ingredients
500g of beef mince
2 slices of tomato
2 potatoes
4 leaves of cos lettuce
1 small onion sliced into rings
4 slices of cheese
Two burger buns
Mustard, pickles, tomato sauce
Method
Pre-heat your oven to 200 degrees Celsius and chop up the potatoes in to thick wedge like fries
Coat with olive oil and a good pinch of salt and cook for 20 minutes before starting the burger buns
In a fry pan on a low heat and a little bit of olive oil slowly cook the onions until browned – if they are starting to burn add 2tsp of water to the pan to allow them to soften
Meanwhile mix your mince with tablespoons of salt and a tsp of pepper dividing the mixture into four patties by rolling them into a ball and the squashing them flat in between the palms of your hands
In the pan make four little mounds of the onion placing a beef patty on to each squishing them down hard
While they are cooking, slice the tomatoes and butter the burger buns, place the buns in the oven for max 5 minutes.
Flip the burgers and add the cheese slices on to each patty. Cooking for 3 more minutes
Turn the pan off the heat and get ready to assemble your burgers with the tomato, lettuce, pickles, mustard, tomato sauce.
Serve with your fries.
